How Expanding Banners can help drive conversions

Expanding Banners are interrupt-driven content widgets included in the Rekko system. It is an effective content type as it interrupts the visitors browsing session and makes them focus on the banner. It can be used in the Content Delivery and A/B testing wizard, as well as the manual web campaign. It’s a great way to deliver a lot of information without sacrificing page real-estate on a permanent basis.

How do I create an expanding banner?

The expanding banner is easy to create. The first step is to determine where you want to place it and the behavior of the banner.

Where do you want to deliver the expanding banner?

  • Div ID – If you know the Div name where you want to deliver the banner, simply enter it here.
  • Div Selector – If you don’t know the Div name, the div selector will present you with your web page and you can simply roll over and select the location for your creative.
  • CSS Selector – You can also use a CSS selector to determine location of your content
  • WYSIWYG Selector – This selector will let you choose a place whether it be a div or CSS location
  • Insert Banner Content

In the sample images in the previous section, notice that there are two states of an expanding banner – contracted and expanded.

In this image, there is an editor section for each state of the banner. Simply provide the HTML/CSS/JavaScript for each and Rekko will handle the delivery and behavior based on your configuration. There are two editors for each section – HTML and WYSIWYG.

The HTML one is simple, just insert your raw HTML. The WYSIWYG editor provides you access to our merge tags that will allow you to add personalization, recommendation grids, and other dynamic elements that can be inserted via Rekko merge tags.
