Tagging with Google Tag Manager is simple. In this article, we’ve laid out some steps for you to follow in order to make tagging easy.

Step One: Creating a Tag in Google Tag Manager

Create a new Container for Rekko Tags.

Then create a new Tag using the Custom HTML Tag option. Paste the Base Tagging scripts found below into the HTML text box as seen in the screenshot. Once you finish, click the Save button at the bottom of the screen.

Note: Please replace text in RED with the appropriate values.

<script type="text/javascript">
var cvtSiteName = "YOURSITENAME";
var cvtJsHost = "https://use.rekko.com/";
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src = '" + cvtJsHost + "setup.js' type = 'text/javascript' %3E%3C/script%3E"));
if(!window.convert_cart){
window.convert_cart={};
convert_cart.shoppingCartItems=new Array();
}
if(!window.convert_profile){
window.convert_profile = {};
}
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
window.convert = new Convert("SITEKEYGOESHERE");
convert._init();
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + cvtJsHost + cvtSiteName + "/extras.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
</script>

Step Two: Creating a Version

After clicking the Save button in the previous step, you will be taken to the Google Tags Overview. Click on the Tag you just created in Step 1.

Click the Create Version button located in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step Three: Specify the Pages on which Tags should appear

Rekko Base Tags should be on all pages of your website. If, however, you wish to limit the placement of these scripts, you can do so by using the Rules tab as shown in the screenshot below.

Step Four: Publishing the Version

Publishing the latest version will complete the process of Rekko Base Tagging. You can do so by clicking Publish button in the top-right corner of the screen.

To add Ecommerce and Visitor Profile tagging to your site, please continue reading the instructions below.

Step Five: Tagging Product Pages (Optional)

IMPORTANT: You must create separate tags for each tagging step mentioned below, and place them BEFORE the Rekko Base tags. Create individual rules for each tag to appear on their respective pages.

Tagging Product Pages

In order for product recommendations to work, you must tag your product pages with productCode and productCategory as shown in following screenshot. Be sure to utilize the Rule functions to make sure these tags appear on Product Pages.

Note: Please replace text in RED with the appropriate values

<script type="text/javascript">
window.convert_productCode="SKU";
window.convert_productCategory="Category 1, Category 2, Category 3";
</script>

Step Six: Tagging Checkout and Order Confirmation (Optional)

IMPORTANT: You must create separate tags for each tagging step mentioned below, and place them BEFORE the Rekko Base tags. Create individual rules for each tag to appear on their respective pages.

Tagging the Cart Page

Place Rekko tagging scripts on the cart page as shown in the following screenshot. This will allow Rekko to dynamically deliver content to the visitor based on how much and what is added to the cart. Be sure to utilize the Rule functions to make sure these tags appear on the cart page.

Note: Please replace text in RED with the appropriate values.

<script type="text/javascript">
if(!window.convert_cart){
window.convert_cart={};
convert_cart.shoppingCartItems=new Array();
}
/*loop on items in the shopping cart*/
/*loop start*/
var convert_item={};
convert_item.sku="SKU";
convert_item.category="Category";
convert_item.quantity=Quantity;
convert_item.price=Price;
convert_cart.shoppingCartItems.push(convert_item);
/*loop end*/
convert_cart.totalCost=Total Cost;
</script>

Tagging the Order Confirmation Page

In order to fully utilize the Rekko Dashboard, populate your Order Confirmation Page with the tags found below. You'll notice they include orderID, isPurchased, and shopping cart information. You'll also need to tag the page with product information if you are going to be using Rekko's recommendation features.

Note: Please replace text in RED with the appropriate values.

<script type="text/javascript">
if(!window.convert_cart){
window.convert_cart={};
convert_cart.shoppingCartItems=new Array();
}
/*loop on items in the shopping cart*/
/*loop start*/
var convert_item={};
convert_item.sku="SKU";
convert_item.category="Category";
convert_item.quantity=Quantity;
convert_item.price=Price;
convert_cart.shoppingCartItems.push(convert_item);
/*loop end*/
convert_cart.totalCost=Total Cost;
convert_cart.taxes=Taxes;
convert_cart.discount=Discount;
convert_cart.shipping=Shipping;
convert_cart.promoCode="Promo Code";
convert_cart.orderId="Order ID";
convert_cart.isPurchased = true;
</script>

Step Seven: Tagging Visitor Profiling and Custom Variables (Optional)

IMPORTANT: You must create separate tags for each tagging step mentioned below, and place them BEFORE the Rekko Base tags. Create individual rules for each tag to appear on their respective pages.

Tagging for Visitor Information

Tagging for visitor information ensures that Rekko is receiving the visitor's First and Last name, as well as their email address. This allows Rekko to deliver personalized marketing campaigns to your visitors. Paste the tags below into Google Tag Manager as seen in the screenshot. These tags should appear on pages where visitor information is available.

Note: Please replace text in RED with the appropriate values.

<script type="text/javascript">
if(!window.convert_profile){
window.convert_profile = {};
}
convert_profile.firstName = "firstname";
convert_profile.lastName = "lastname";
convert_profile.email = "email";
convert_profile.login = "login";
</script>
